"The Evangelical Church" isn't some single entity that can be held accountable, that's a big part of the problem.

            Christofascists gonna Christofassh.

In their world, a foreigner or needy person is someone who looks like someone they know and love, or has direct familial ties. They keep a tight group, and if you aren't fighting their "war on evil", you are the evil.

The bible also says you should be put to death if you work on a Sunday, so checkmate anyone who doesn't have a mon-fri office job

in Finland, Evangelical Church is quite progressive, supports trans people and migrants and regularly participates in Pride

Part of me thinks we should be subsidizing churches with taxes. Because the American system of “prosteltyze or loose your church” just led to super churches.

If a third of a population is vulnerable to psychological dependency then it’s time to work it into government, rather than small church battle royale for donation dollars.

One big difference is that they wouldn't advertise their religion to you for no reason. So unless you ask everyone you meet about their religion, it's possible you actually did meet at least one and didn't know.

Change it to "anyone who makes you work on a Sunday" and I'll support that message.

Nah state run churches just scream to the heavens the ability to exploit the people even harder.

"God demands that those people be punished. Go forth and enact His will!" crusades with state protection

In German, "evangelisch" and "evangelikal" are two distinct things. The first one is used for local denominations like lutheranism that tend to be chill, while the second is reserved for the US-brand skullduggery.
