      @Bodling what a great question! What are some things you could imagine a local Fediverse Club might do?

        @evan

        Sure, but didn’t I already do that when I joined a Fediverse server?

            @evan

            Yes. I first joined a Swedish server (here in Sweden) and then I started my own which I run on a physical device, so it’s very local.

              @evan I imagine a Fediverse Club could be a live version of the various fediverse apps (people meeting people and talking, sharing photos, or whatever).

              Or it could be coding new and better versions of existing fediverse things.

              Or focused on formulating community standards of behaviour.

              Or just a social get together for people who met online and therefore think that they might hit it off face to face.

              But you're the one who brought up the idea. What were you imagining when you used the phrase? Or is it in common usage and I'm just so far out of the loop that I didn't know what "Fediverse Club" meant?

                @Bodling so, in general, I don't provide definitions while a poll is ongoing.

                I'll give you some of my own ideas for what a Fediverse Club might do after the poll is over.

                  Thanks to everyone who answered. We have an active Fediverse scene here in Montreal, but not yet a formal club. I would join it if we had one, though!

                      @Bodling now that the poll is over: I'd expect a Fediverse Club to work kind of like a Linux Users Group (LUG):

                      - bring together local people interested in the Fediverse to talk about Fediverse topics
                      - advocate for social web use in the local community
                      - help with onboarding (maybe something like an installfest...?)
                      - develop or support local tools (for example, an RSS gateway for the city government blog)
                      - be a gateway for local people to connect to a national or global movement

                          @evan yes, but physical moderation is also critical.

                            It would be cool to have a directory of Fediverse-focused clubs and similar organisations. I wonder who owns fediverse.club...?
